Storage New Malden Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Storage New Malden has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not present in our operations or supply chains. Storage New Malden is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard against any form of modern slavery.
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It can take various forms, including slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking. Storage New Malden recognises its responsibility to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and to ensure that these abuses have no place in our business or among those who supply goods and services to us.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage New Malden operates a clear and uncompromising zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not tolerate any form of exploitation within our own operations or within the activities of any organisation with which we conduct business.
This commitment applies to all staff, including permanent, temporary, and agency workers, as well as to contractors, consultants, and suppliers. We expect everyone working with or on behalf of Storage New Malden to share our stance and comply with all applicable laws relating to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and human rights.
Our Supply Chains and Supplier Audits
We recognise that the greatest risk of modern slavery can often lie within extended supply chains. Storage New Malden is therefore committed to assessing and monitoring suppliers and contractors who provide goods, materials, and services to our business.
As part of our due diligence processes, we seek to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks. This includes carrying out proportionate checks on new suppliers, requiring them to confirm compliance with modern slavery legislation, and assessing the nature of the products or services they provide. Where we consider there to be a higher risk, we may request additional information and assurances.
We reserve the right to conduct audits or inspections of suppliers, either directly or through third-party assessors, to verify compliance with our standards. If a supplier is found to be involved in modern slavery or fails to meet our requirements, we will take appropriate action, which may include working with them to improve standards within a specified timeframe, suspending orders, or terminating the relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Storage New Malden encourages a culture of openness where concerns about modern slavery can be raised without fear of retaliation. All employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders are urged to report any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery, whether in our own operations or anywhere in our supply chains.
Concerns can be raised in person with a line manager or senior manager, or through existing internal reporting and grievance channels. Reports will be treated sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. We will investigate all allegations promptly and thoroughly and will take appropriate remedial action where necessary, which may involve engaging with authorities.
Retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith is strictly prohibited. Disciplinary action will be taken against any individual found to have victimised a whistleblower or to have participated in any form of modern slavery.
Training, Awareness, and Responsibility
Responsibility for overseeing this policy and its implementation rests with the senior management of Storage New Malden. Managers are responsible for ensuring that their teams understand and comply with this statement and associated procedures.
Where appropriate, we provide training and guidance to employees whose roles place them in a position to influence or manage supplier relationships or who may be exposed to modern slavery risks. We also raise awareness across the wider workforce so that everyone understands the signs of potential exploitation and how to respond.
Monitoring, Annual Review, and Continuous Improvement
Storage New Malden is committed to ongoing monitoring of our efforts to prevent modern slavery and to continuously improving our approach. We regularly review the effectiveness of our policies, risk assessments, and supplier due diligence processes to ensure that they remain robust and proportionate to the risks we face.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually by senior management. As part of the annual review, we evaluate any reported incidents, audit findings, changes in legislation, and developments in best practice. Where necessary, we update our policies, procedures, and training to strengthen our controls.
By maintaining a zero-tolerance approach, conducting appropriate supplier audits, providing clear reporting channels, and engaging in regular review and improvement, Storage New Malden is determined to play its part in eradicating modern slavery and promoting respect for human rights in all aspects of our business.
